RE: Audi...
Aren't they all like, actually the same company? Actually this is Porsche saying something to one of it's own subsidiaries.

I think you would have to be German to understand this.

RE: Audi...
the volkswagen group owns a controlling share in porsche, but they haven't yet done much if anything with that control. more the opposite, actually, as top porsche execs get drafted up to steer the group, which is probably one of the main reasons porsche has been left to its own devices. audi is much more under the vwg umbrella. and of course, the two famously work together on their shared SUV platform.

it's always sad to see a worthy competitor leave top flight sportscars, especially given the lack of other rivals, but one can certainly see why the group didn't see much value left in it for audi. i'm sure they will be back, hopefully sooner than later.

Time for an A1 WRC now that VW have left the sport. Audi back in WRC would be huge and they could play on all their heritage in their marketing. Although it probably doesn't fit the corporate image these days, and competing with Ford, Hyundai and Toyota isn't ideal for them either.

RE: Audi...
it would be fun to see audi in rally again, but i agree that it doesn't fit the brand at all. trouble is that sportscars is the type of racing that does fit their brand, so they're a little screwed in that regard.
