Blog hosts
Please may I plumb the massive knowledge resources of the assembled F1 community?

I'm looking to sign up to a blogging service that allows me to group posts in to layered collections or albums. The other key feature is that it just works and is with a (hopefully) long-lived organisation: I can't be @rsed fiddling around with code and layout.

In other words, if I do a series of posts over time relating to my recent Outer Hebrides trip in relation to the photography of Paul Strand they can be grouped (and Google searched for) under that heading.

Similarly, my posts over time (say) on motorsport track shoots, or Cambridge street photography, or Italian travel can appear under other albums and ideally be listed as such on a 'contents' page or menu.

Effectively I'm looking for a blog that builds in to a website over time, with flexible 'albums' and a 'contents' page or menu.

I've looked at a range of other friends' blogs and haven't really found anything quite like this.

SquareSpace do provide layered grouping of blog posts (e.g. their 'Skye' template) and they do look really nice and meet my 'just work' and 'should be secure' requirements, but is it possible to get this sort of thing for less than around £100/$140 per annum?

Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Mark

Dr. Mark, are you looking for something like this https://www.flickr.com/ and/or this http://s5.photobucket.com/ or were you looking for a more comprehensive array of blogging words as well as photos which can be grouped together from various and unrelated sources (blogs, forums, articles, etc.)?

RE: Blog hosts
Thanks.

I want to be able to include several images per post: probably only images taken by me, although I could link to other images and sites. It's important for me to have the flexibility to be able to include quite a bit of text relating to each image.

Squarespace 'Skye' would probably do the biz: https://www.squarespace.com/websites/templates/skye I haven't researched the flexibility of their offerings fully yet, but a more prominant menu/contents listing on the front page would be useful for me and I don't know if you can do that.

Having dug a bit deeper for examples on SquareSpace, if you have a look at the 'Accidental Icon' example website under the 'Native' blog template I think that should give you an idea of what I'm after: https://www.squarespace.com/websites/templates/native

Mark

Oh, I see. I am not the one to offer support for any of this. Don't cringe at this suggestion, but Facebook has an extremely large audience and offers website development https://www.facebook.com/How-To-Make-You...935979636/

I have no doubt that some of the F1Weekly familia are well-versed in helping you find the right solution.

RE: Blog hosts
Many thanks!

I do use Flickr for most of my straightforward image posting, and the dreaded FB for Groups on particular topics, mainly photographic.

Many thanks, Peter. That looks interesting.
