And there is no way - we can prove it - that a McLaren product could have been at all to blame, especially for hospitalising a driver for 3 days in an accident that didn't even rip a wheel off. Hmmmmm.

If the car can take that impact without the wheels/suspension coming off maybe they can go wheel to wheel and give people a nudge as required...

Well well, after 7 laps our Jens first day of the final Barcelona test came to an end due to "hydraulic leak had forced a power unit change"

What's going on there Ronnie ?

Not good really and I assume the use of the generic term "hydraulic problem" means engine failure.

like the guy who retired his race car with electrical failure. When he was asked how come the electrical failure caused some much oil smoke, he told the reporter that he had put a rod through the alternator.

RE: McLaren
I shouldn't really say this, but I'm going to find McHonda's chaos this season wildly funny. The antics of the 3 not so wise monkeys (Ron, Fernando and Jensen) with Eric bending himself in to ever-tightening knots to keep it all together is going to be a joy to watch.

Hopefully they'll have got it mostly together by, say, Singapore and Jensen will keep his sense of humour throughout.

Mark

I still think that Fred will stay at McLaren for a year and then swap with LCH, right when the Honda guys get their crap together and the Mercedes engine has peaked

That would fit Alonso's dismal record of picking teams at the right time.

The beauty of social media is you don't have to follow them and you can block any re-tweets of their account if you want. I suspect they will be short lived accounts anyway, I just hope their final tweet is Kerblammo! when the inevitable happens.

According to Fernando Alonso's "tweet" showing an aerial photo of the McLaren facility and two thumbs up, he is okay. His father said Fernando will be at the Malaysia GP. His manager said Fernando will be at the Malaysia GP. And, Fernando tested in the simulator on Wednesday.

Wonder how long it will be before he goes on gardening leave for the rest of the season

Can't see him coping well with this

That is what everyone's looking for and it would seem to be the natural conclusion if all that is true, although it must be said that a lot of the other media outlets aren't stewing up as much as Motor Sport did there.

Who gets the boot? I wouldn't want to step out of that car just yet if I was Hamilton or Rosberg.

It's more a question of, if you were Toto, who would you replace with Fred.

Yes, interesting isn't it.

Depends how Toto's ulcer is coming along, because Lewis and Fred back together would most certainly be a strong stimulus to perforation. Assuming the car is still competitive, of course.

Assuming this current reporting has more than a grain of truth and isn't all media hype, it must be said that Alonso has a strange way of promoting his own brand. His driving skills are his overwhelmingly strong suit and put him in automatic strong contention for any seat, so why potentially erode your position by looking and behaving like a rat?

Basically he looks again to be behaving like a git: so, does he really want to retire with only 2 championships (and hence ultimately a failure in many people's eyes)?

Mark

It may be the first brick in the wall of evidence that he's a quicker driver overall.
On the other hand, it will only be a single brick in a wall that could go either way for all we know.

Why, what did you have in mind?

Not a question that needs answering. Jenson just out qualified Fred.

Can someone nip round to Clark's and place a cool damp towel on his forehead.

RE: McLaren
Okay, settle down Gents. It was only a question of no significance.

This event is happening at 2 am here. At the time I posted the question, I had finished reading some online source stating Fernando said he had less than 100% ability to drive after being back from his Barcelona accident. Now that I've watched the recorded sessions and saw Fernando talking with the press, I see he is fine.

Oh, I was on my way to "nip 'round to Clark's place" from the D.C area, but only got 5,000 kilometers before realizing I forgot the towel. My bad Smile
