From Sniff Petrol's gift ideas

That message is causing me to have a significant quantity of pleasurable emotions.

Anyway, spare a thought for the Reds, where new recruits and old stagers alike are having their throats cut even before they cross the threshold: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2014/12/1...ous-start/

All this is great fun, but my prediction is that it's going to take McHonda at least a year to become competitive, and Ferrari at least two (who is that Seb chap, again?), so '15 is going to be another dull Mercfest, with Williams snapping at their remote heels and the only real question is how good RBR will be.

Anyone care to bet against any part of that?

Regards,
Mark

RE: McLaren
It would be wonderful to think Honda have got it right, having had a year to sit back and watch the others, learn and apply before they have to homog their engine and it would be wonderful to think McLaren have, with their relative technical staff stability and optimised vehicle operatives put together a car which can use it. But smart money says new stuff like this rarely works out of the box, at least in the modern F1.

RE: McLaren
Ron Dennis: "We signed Fernando a little while ago, but we decided not to announce the fact until we had also re-signed Jenson as his team-mate. For many reasons our negotiations with Jenson took quite a long time..."

If by that statement- Ron is truthful, then perhaps Jenson wasn't sitting around awaiting a decision as to whether he was going to drive for McLaren, but rather at what price and for how many seasons.

I'm confused by the fake enthusiasm. Was that a backward look at the new McLaren, or a forward look at old achievements? Did Ron pay for this?

Yeah. I just hope they've set it to 1988.

Very disappointing, plus they still have no title sponsor.

RE: McLaren
All this talk of super-tight rear packaging reminds me hauntingly of Newey's numpty MP4-18 (which, to save anyone looking it up, was so advanced that it had to be substituted by the -17B, and never raced).

Mark

Apparently it is going to change, I wonder if that means there will be a title sponsor, or they realised it was boring and decided it needs to change.

More trouble for McLaren...

Fernando Alonso crashed into the wall at turn 3 in Barcelona. He is expected to recover with no serious injuries, but is spending a hospital night due a concussion. The car was only slightly damaged.

Button couldn't test due to a faulty seal.

RE: McLaren
What an unusually long and wordy statement from Woking. Almost blames the driver, well, perhaps it does, at least it says he is no better at handling a bit of wind than Sainz Jr.

And there is no way - we can prove it - that a McLaren product could have been at all to blame, especially for hospitalising a driver for 3 days in an accident that didn't even rip a wheel off. Hmmmmm.
