that sounds like every regular season baseball game here as well, so that's not bad at all.

if there ever was a baseball champions league, i would expect the american team to win, since american clubs use financial advantages to poach top players from around the world, but you never know until you play the games. there would certainly be lots of underdogs to root for, which seems to be quite a popular thing to do for some reason.

RE: Spice up your life.
A few years ago they pitted the Baltimore Orioles against a team from Cuba and the Cuban team destroyed Baltimore. But I would agree, since most of the best foreign players (Robinson Cano for instance) play on MLB teams, it may be a bit of a skewed result.

Maybe the World Series champion is a de-facto world champ for that reason? (not being serious there)

You always seemed like a jean shorts kind of guy to me.

Maybe more of a cargo pants fan?

I had Frank and Yaaay (perhaps Koala) as predominantly wearers of cords

I once had a pair of cords, I grew out of them quickly as I was 12 at the time.

RE: Spice up your life.
i've never understood the appeal of corduroy. seems annoying for no reason. if i were to get some cords, i would get these:
http://www.betabrand.com/collections/cordarounds.html

for my share, i picture tricky in the same wool slacks his father wore, jackson in skinny jeans, and yaaay in whatever his wife buys because they don't sell the bell bottoms he likes anymore. Smile

Her Majesty's farmers must look very different than the farmers of America's heartland.

I think we have a problem with the popular view of how farmers dress. What Tricky is describing is a middle upper class twit.

RE: Spice up your life.
I'm 100% certain that if you asked Dr Mark what he would wear to a social gathering such as a barbecue, he would reply with the following message:

Brown leather shoes
Brown or beige trousers bought from marks and spencers
A check shirt predominantly white
A classic v neck jumper
A wax jacket or fleece

Like me his wallet is probably brown leather, absolutely no denim is considered acceptable.

Like Yaaay I did have a pair in the 70s - but not since then - haven't seen any in the shops that I can recall recently

I'm not sure what it's like in the US, but I got Friday off as a public holiday but not Monday. However government workers, banks and Unionised employees all get Easter Monday.
