i need some type of tag, along the lines of "nsfw" and "spoiler alert," to help me avoid giving my clicks to gossipy drivel.

I'm sure she has had some work done, but she seems to have aged well. I confess I only looked at the photos and didn't read the article.

I admit it- I took my 6 year old daughter to a Spice Girls concert in 1998. Geri quit the group some time before the show, however her voice was miraculously present in the music.

I can't believe that. It was surely because the standard venue-supplied PA system was judged inferior by the band's management, so they felt compelled to provide their own which was much more accurate and... errrm... enhanced.

RE: Spice up your life.
it just isn't done! One shouldn't wear brown outside one's estate (or going to or coming from) and combining them with blue just shows some lack of proper upbringing.

RE: Spice up your life.
Just another example of global americanisation - where the ongoing approach appears to be managing down to mediocrity

The three differences between American and British people:
- We speak English and you don't.
- When we hold a World Championship for a particular sport, we invite teams from other countries to play, as well.
- When you meet the head of state in Great Britain, you only have to go down on one knee.

RE: Spice up your life.
the world championship thing is a legitimate point. i've always scoffed at the title "world series" in baseball. yeah, the whole world of continental america and toronto. what's wrong with a league championship?

The World Series was inaugurated in the early years of the 20th century when I think pretty much only North America was playing baseball, so it does have some historical legitimacy.

Before that there was a lot of crossover between cricket and baseball, with some international touring teams playing both (although not at the same time...).

As I recall from a pub quiz question we got wrong recently, the first international cricket match was played between the USA and one of the Caribbean Islands (Barbados, perhaps).

Anyway, back to topic...

...whatever that was.

Mark

RE: Spice up your life.
I'm wearing tan suede and jeans...how improper.

Also, I've always thought it would be cool to have a baseball tournament of various league champions to have a true world series at the club level (as opposed to the national level like the World Baseball Classic).

United States, Japan, Australia, Venezuela, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Netherlands.

(Also, I acknowledge that I am, most likely, the only baseball fan in this forum)

Baseball is a niche sport down hear so I suspect we would be smashed.

We just had the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamond Backs down here for a round robbin competition against a composite Australia team - the Oz team won a game against Arizona but lost all the other games.

Word is they are going to do the same thing with The NY Yankees and another US team next year.

From memory the games garnered moderate interest but there were a lot of unsold seats
