RE: 2014 Prediction Competition.
We see the effects of years of habitual use in the reappearance of those Ferrari and Vettel picks.

Sunday will show whether they're real, or a mixture of credulous media hype plus a rosy glow in the sky because Maranello's burning and the RBR ERS is melting its way back to Blighty...

Frankly, I haven't got the faintest idea who's going to come where, and its great. I'm hoping for rain.

Regards,
Mark

I wonder if the giant heat and then a well-timed monsoon make this the right race to put "no one" in the 10th place slot?

After all, with the current state of Laterham and Notus, there are only 18 cars that can get to the finish.

Apparently they have this internet-web thing which enables people from one country to send messages and something called emale to someone in another country almost instantly.

It's sort of like playing golf...one good score makes all the bad scores worth it!

Or the UK, which seems to have some very 3rd world internet. My in-laws live in the countryside and theirs is unusable after 5pm. it was the same at our rental cottage, also in the countryside, but when we got to London the hotel had 25MB broadband available for a small fee.

RE: 2014 Prediction Competition.
Like a lot of things in the UK its a bit of a postcode lottery. What the press often fails to tell us is the UK actually has one of the fastest average broadband speeds in Europe.

But as clearly Yaaay points out, some areas have it very bad. For a service based economy this isn't good.

I'm on about 8MB/s

Value for money, is also important

I think the slow uptake of 4G is more worrying going forward.

Would you say slow internet speeds is significantly hampering your business operations?

I pay $150 a month for Cable, Home Phone and Internet (the provider likes to tell me it's $99, but that's before taxes and a few items not included in the bundle like DVR and HD), with that I get 20MB download and 2MB upload with no usage caps, at peak times it usually drops to 10-12MB downloads. That is the slowest package on offer from my provider. We are about to get a second Fibre line offered in our area that starts at 50MB downloads and we are one of the last areas in out community to get this as we are a bit out of the way. Otherwise the alternative is a 5MB satellite service. Honestly, I don't mind what we pay if we get a good service. Cheap is pointless if you can't use it. I want to be able to stream movies and TV with no lag, my in-laws can't even download an e-mail of a web page at peak times.

I'm sure if people in the UK add up their BT or other provider land line, their internet and a decent Sky/Virgin or similar package they aren't that far off the prices we are paying. My total package with taxes, is $150 a month, which is about £80. Given the population density where I live meaning a lot of cable needs to be run to get to us and the competition only being 2 companies I don't feel to hard done by with what we pay. Plus we can usually call them and get the price dropped with a threat of switching. My $150 package was costing $190 before I called, this time they gave me the lower price for 2 years.
