London 2014 Audience with Joe Saward
Love him or loath him, he tells it as he sees it, and he has been to every race since the early 1980s...

Friday 21st February at 7pm in the City of London.

I went last year and enjoyed myself: actually, one of the highlights of the evening was chatting to Joe's French wife, who is charming and spoke candidly and entertainingly of her views on many of the paddockisti.

Regards,
Mark

Especially if a curry is involved.

Yes, I've just booked. This has the marvellous additional benefit of getting me out of a ghastly drinks party being held by our next door neighbours.

The food last time did include some currified items, as I recall. It's not the greatest venue in the world, but it's reasonably handy for rail transport home.

Anyone going should turn up early - I got there at 5 to 7 and was sitting right at the back.

Regards,
Mark

British cultural niceties don't work like that, Frank. Especially when Erindoors wants to go. For equally complicated reasons I'm being allowed to go to an F1 lads' evening, but simply declining the invite would lead to all sorts of Other Half trouble.

I'll travel by train, Peter. I can get to and from Liverpool st from the station at the end of our road, and the last workable train goes back at 10-forty-something.

Regards,
Mark

yeah, we have that same social bullshit here too, though not as strenuously. you'd be surprised how much it loses it's power when you just refuse to play along.

though I can understand how the wife can make it much pricklier.
