RE: Baltimore Indycar 2013
Thanks for posting Eric. I've enjoyed seeing these races live every year, but I couldn't make it this time. I watched quali, Indy, and ALMS races on TV. Fantastic venue, and will definitely see it again live next year. The chicane to slow traffic before the railroad tracks proved quite a challenge.

Very nice photos-thanks for sharing!

Spent most of the ALMS race waiting for crash debris to be cleared. The streets of Baltimore are incredibly bumpy. I'm convinced Baltimore spends NO money on street maintenance. The track going over the railroad tracks is probably the single biggest impediment to decent racing followed by the narrow street layout. The course leaves a lot to be desired: there are no grandstands at the pit area, almost every grandstand is on or at the end a straight, crash fencing means that all photos are shot thru fencing, most of grandstand 4 views are impeded by trees, and there's a serious lack of video screens. The one bright spot, you can pass on this track.

RE: Baltimore Indycar 2013
It IS the bumpiest and slowest on the calendar, but working class Baltimore has very little money, so it does the best it can. I think the chicane caused most of the wreckage, and will be re-thought for next year. At least Baltimore allows you to get real close to the drivers, team owners, and trailers. A few of the guys in our car club rent a lower level hotel room each year, and that is a great view of several areas of the race track. Still, it is a street circuit (which I enjoy), but built around a train station. I also enjoyed seeing the ALMS race in D.C. the one year it happened, but locals couldn't stand the noise, so it was discontinued.

I think it's a fine race and I've gone every year. I went to the DC ALMS race too. Here's a few photos from that event:

Eric, I just spent an hour looking at your photos from everywhere. You out-Nasir'd everyone I know as far as F1 venues. Amazing where you have been and who you have seen.

Re: Andretti Sports Marketing Statement Regarding Baltimore Event

Andretti Sports Marketing learned today that Race On, the owner of the Grand Prix of Baltimore, would not return to the Charm City in 2014. Race On was unable to coordinate a workable date for the 2014 event with the multiple entities involved in scheduling. Andretti Sports Marketing worked diligently in recent weeks to coordinate and explore all alternative options on behalf of Race On.

"On behalf of all of us at Andretti Sports Marketing, we want to thank the many sponsors of our racing companies who rallied behind the Grand Prix of Baltimore. It has been our pleasure to work with Race On, the City of Baltimore, the INDYCAR Series and the American Le Mans Series. We thank all of our friends at SRT and Chrysler Group for their support of the Baltimore event as its presenting sponsor. It was a great experience working with the fans in Baltimore and the community and hopefully one day we will be back," said Michael Andretti, CEO of Andretti Sports Marketing.

Thank you,

Andretti Sports Marketing
