F1Weekly Iberian Summit 2012
Proceedings went smoothly and all participants are delighted with the conclusions of the summit, whose effect will be felt through the F1Weekly empire for years to come.

Formal conclusion will take place in a black tie (not) dinner centred on the fiery delicacies of goese cuisine.

Some photos are available on Facebook; I'l post everything here in the near future (probably tomorrow!)

I regret not coming. In the end my reasons for not planning were not valid. Next time.

Fresh off the plane, Mr. Hamid was droven around Estoril by Joao Pedro Lima, operations director of the circuit

Walking in places where Lauda, Senna and Prost have treaded, Nasir had racing in his eyes

With Sintra as a backdrop, Nasir embraces the whole F1Weekly familia

Mr. Lima was extremely nice and kind, and took us on a tour of the control tower
[Image: 2qvrz29.jpg]

One of the walls had a photo mural, with some photos that captured Nasir's attention

Believe it or not, and according to Mr. Lima, the guy on the back is none other than Bernie!

The tour ended with Nasir remembering to have watched this race live!

All this excitement opens up the appetite. Nasir discovered the pleasures of an grilled cheese sandwich with Alentejo bread.

I thought the same, but you have to take the bike height into account.

we ended the day by driving some of the TAP rallye special timed section used by Group B cars (sorry, no photos) and by visiting continental Europe westernmost point followed by dinner in Alfama, where Nasir tryed codfish pastries with... baked beans rice!

The trip to Portugal was amazing, thanks to Dr Miguel and what Dr Farrington would call, European Support Vehicle # 3. Visiting Estoril circuit was serious nostalgia.....Senna's first win, the off-the-pit-wall battle between Senna and Prost, and Senna crashing into Il Leone, who had kept going despite a black flag........the MotoGP win over Rossi by Toni Elias (see above photo please) -- all great motorsport memories embedded in the mind from five in the morning. Live at Five!

On the flight back there was a documentary on Her Majesty's Airline called Rallying-The Killer Years, about the Group B cars. Several of the stages thru Sintra were visited by Dr Miguel and moi only hours earlier.

Obrigado and thanks again to both Doctors for a wonderful time. Healthy motorsports living to all F1W familia.

No, just more convenient for me. Plus it is my tribute to 'radical lawyer' William Kunstler, an American masterpiece.

The Group B Rally doc was a real eye opener. I remember seeing the images of the crowds back then, but I wasn't as aware of some of the inevitable accidents. It's amazing there weren't more really.

We kicked off day two with a visit to Monsanto Park and the spot of the Fangio picture:

We then proceed to F1weekly Ops Control Room to watch Singapore Quali
[Image: 67ulxf.jpg]

The summit ended with a Goa cusine experience, a bit disappointing from my point of view but that's bound to happen when you don't visit a great restaurant for 20 years! (sadly no photos)
