GT Acadmedy 2012 - ending soon
Hey all. It’s been a while since I last posted (still visit frequently though).

I wanted to just inform everyone interested in video games of GT Academy. It’s run by Polyphony and Nissan on the Playstation 3. You don’t need to have Gran-Turismo 5 to do this either. It’s a free download. But having GT5 experience is really necessary to be competitive.

Anyway, there are only a few days left to enter but not too late. The competition takes place over the globe (except Japan and Canada - not permitted to qualify for the final rounds). The winner gets a full one year racing contract with some team. Last year’s winner was racing in this year’s Le Mans.

Anyway, the first part requires gold medals in 8 rounds with 5 challenges in each round. To make it to the next part, you have to rank in the top 32 (in time) in the US (I assume it’s the same in other locations as well) on the final challenge - full lap at the Twin Ring Motegi East Short Course. Unfortunately the last track is insanely hard. The best I could do was 1:33.4xx. The top time is in the 1:30.xx. btw, as of last night I was ranked 890. Not bad for everyone in the US but not good enough to continue in the game. Sad

Here are a few links to check out.

And this is a lap at Motegi with turn by turn analysis.

Even with this utube video, I still couldnt do much better (improved by 0.1 sec).

Good luck all and I hope someone here makes it. It wont be me...

I think the winner from a couple of years ago was partnering the Brundles this year.

Thanks N-. Actually its 890 in the US but still I appreciate the compliment. Amazingly, im still roughly 2 seconds off and cannot go any faster. There are some sick game drivers out there. I expect to drop back a few hundred places but would be very happy to stay in the top 1000.

cheers.
