MotoGP 2012
The first round of MotoGP starts today in Qatar under the lights. It's 4 days so the sessions don't run too late into the time of night when the track starts to accumulate dew.

No surprises in FP1 with Stoner fastest, but good to see Hayden 3rd. The CRT's seem to be going OK for their first run after a short amount of testing so far. The slowest CRT except for one exception (which I think is a blip rather than a true reflection of pace) is just over 4% off the fastest pace, which is pretty close when you compare it to the F1 new teams.

Big surprise for Honda today, Yamaha seem to be the bike to have this weekend.Lorenzo easily on pole and four of the top six are Yamaha.

RE: MotoGP 2012
I think Honda are still having a few chatter issues with the new spec Bridgestones, it didn't help that there was a late minimum weight increase that threw their design off. Yamaha seem to have dealt with it better than them, but they will no doubt get on top of it soon.

The race was fantastic, it was a shame Stoner suffered with arm pump or I think it would have gone right to the end. I'd also have liked to see Crutchlow with the front runners to see how he would have diced with them, although he said afterwards he doesn't think he could have run their pace for more than half distance.

Rossi was poor though, I can see him retiring at the end of this season, if he even gets that far. He just can't adapt the bike to his style and he doesn;t seem to be able to adapt his style to the bike. Hayden destroyed him this weekend.

RE: MotoGP 2012
I think they slashed the price of the tickets to get a good crowd in. I read somewhere you could get a general admission for race day for €2 on Sunday. It certainly looked like it worked.

That's crazy, it was probably cheaper for someone form the UK to fly to Portugal for the race than go to Silverstone for the British round.

I hope you enjoyed the weekend, I have a feeling it will be dropped for next year as the series tries to push east.

RE: MotoGP 2012
General admission for Silverstone Motogp is 80 euros. You probably could do that.
