DTM at Brands
Glorious weather for the last day of my holiday today at DTM practice at Brands Hatch - my laptop's died so I can't post any images until Sunday when i get home, but I seem to have got some decent shots as far as I can tell off the camera screen.

There were very few people at the track, and you could get in to some excellent camera positions without the usual collection of rude twats with big lenses they didn't know how to use barging in front.

It was effin' hot, so I shall be doing some serious rehydrating shortly in a Kent hostelry Cool

Audi are looking dominant:

3. Maro Engel, D, GQ AMG Mercedes, AMG Mercedes C-Class 2008, +0.086s

RE: DTM at Brands
It looks like it's designed to flick stones up onto the screen of the following car.

RE: DTM at Brands
Typical nasty Audi trick.

I can report close encounters today with DC and Susie Stoddart (swoon, gibber, drool...) as well as a mystery man who's identity will be photographically revealed tomorrow evening.

Why not come along, TD? I think you can get tickets on Sunday for about 25 quid. Some rain is forecast, though.

Regards,
Mark

RE: DTM at Brands
Cool. How were the swinging 60s?

I just arrived home to the sound of Hawker Hunter flying over our house from the Duxford airshow,

DTM (etc ) photos coming shortly...

Mark

RE: DTM at Brands
The place looks vastly different to the flower show. Second year of the event, has potential to become something but no ability to show cars on the move means it will never turn into a Goodwood. Good selection of cars on display in casual settings. Not very 60's feel, it was raining so it didn't feel like anything. I wish I had gone to Duxford.

RE: DTM at Brands
You'd have enjoyed Brands.

Here's a link to a folder of a quick whizz through some images and uploaded on tinypic: http://tinypic.com/a/2nqe0/3

As you can see, the place was almost empty on Friday, while general access was really good throughout. It was hot and sweaty of Friday, warm and breezy on Saturday, and cloudy with intermittent driving drizzle today. The food, however, was basically closed Friday & Saturday, and cr@p on Sunday.

Di Resta turned up, but Schumacher didn't bother to attend the pit walkabout, which went down like a fart in a spacesuit.

The Racecar Euroseries was great fun - how Nascar would be if they ran on proper tracks. The engineering was agricultural and it was getting to a Destruction Derby by the end.

Yeah, and Susie's nearly but not quite as nice as Vanina, Nasir...

Mark

RE: DTM at Brands
Nice, I assume the shot along the bank infront of the pits is Friday. That is my kind of crowd.

RE: DTM at Brands
Yes, it got progressively busier, but there were still plenty of seats in all the grandstands today and there was plenty of space round the track for good photo shooting.

Today's pit walk was a bit of a zoo, but yesterday's was fine and you could get really good driver access at the team HQs if you checked when they were appearing.

Just think of it - all that Heidfeld access next year Rolleyes

Mark
