pushing an outside overtaker off the track
does anyone know what the difference is between what buemi did to heidfeld (and got penalized) and what button did to hamilton a few races back (and didn't get penalized)? they seemed the same to me.

RE: pushing an outside overtaker off the track
I agree, I haven't seen the replay or read any analysis but from what I saw Heidfeld was never more than front wheel to Buemi's rear wheel, aslo Buemi did not stray from the racing line. I cannot see any way in which that would be anything but 100% Heidfeld's responsibility to not make contact.

visbility, at the end of a long straight rather than half way, cars more or less side to side rather than rear wheel touching front wing (but I have not watched both replays)

Gets, at most, half way up, no where near along side.

agreed, not very different from Canada, looks like Heildfeld didn't realize Buemi was there, racing incident.

RE: pushing an outside overtaker off the track
By the time there is contact they are little more than a wheel away from side by side, but I think it's too late by then. I'm sure visibility has a part to play in the decision though, it's not like Button had a chance to see Hamilton was there. Also, it's not like McLaren were going to be pushing for a penalty for Button in Canada.
