RE: Kubica injured in rallye accident
For Big K-, that makes 2 very scary accidents where he should not have survived. Get well soon. The grid is not the same w/o ya.

thanks for posting the simulation, it clarifies how the incident unfolded.
my gosh driver and navigator were very fortunate, could have been skewered

What I don't understand about the simulation is how the front wheel fell off -- typically it would protect against intrusion somewhat. But hey, you hang around any track long enough and you'll see cars in places you never dreamed of.

should drivers not be allowed to sit on pit walls because narain karthikeyan separated his shoulder while attempting the modest feat?

there's these things called probabilities. Some activities have more than others.

More s**t happens while driving a very fast car flat out along a narrow country lane with safety barriers designed for a horse and cart.

i completely agree about the probabilities being the concern, and the poorly designed safety barriers (i'd add poor medical crew on hand). the probability of being seriously injured in a major rally event are miniscule. bob should have been driving that skoda at the monte, not in that rinky dink rally.

I agree, the Monte would have made so much more sense, not only would it have had better medical staff and probably better checks on the barriers in the first place, but it was further before testing in case of any accidents requiring a few days to let bruises etc recover.

That said, this was a complete freak accident, so it could have happened anywhere and better medical staff wouldn't have got him back in an F1 car for the start of the season.

A Rally Car is a relatively safe place to be if you want to go fast, it's not like he rides motorcycles or competes in extreme adventure events.

the way that P.O.S. ARMCO gave way is unacceptable
looks to me as if it wasnt bolted up properly, perhaps sabotaged

I think sabotage is getting a little silly, poorly maintained is far more likely.

Even if someone sabotaged the barrier, creating the accident would be almost impossible.

"given a medallion containing a fragment of a robe worn by the late Polish pope and a drop of his blood to Kubica"

no doubt just what he was after - you can see that being a real favourite fashion accessory after he recovers

at least they didn't make him eat a cracker that magically turns into the flesh of a 2000-year-old dead man.

RE: Kubica injured in rallye accident
I wonder where that blood comes from. Do popes generally have blood donation days to provide the world with relics??? Or are there attendants just waiting for the pope to cut himself while shaving, and catching the few drops in a holy bowl???

I don't think the church would have the pope tortured by the Holy Inquisition. Or did you mean other traditions?

I meant other traditions. The one that includes the skull of an eight years old John the Baptist!
