Paul Di Resta DTM champion 2010
A second place in the last race of the year, taking place in Shanghai (a street circuit, not the F1 circuit), was enough for Di Resta to take the title in front of race winner Gary Paffett. Bruno Spengler, who was leading the championship before the race, was set back by a crash in qualifying that had him start the race on the last row, with Di Resta and Paffett taking pole and 2nd.

It will be interesting to see if that success has any influence on his future in Formula One. In the post-race interview, Di Resta mentioned driving the number 1 car next year, that doesn't seem to be a good sign.

Oh, and DC got his first DTM point thanks to an 8th place.

RE: Paul Di Resta DTM champion 2010
There's a DTM race in Shanghai? I'm gone for a month and they have a street race. OMG where could they possibly hold it? If they hold it anywhere scenic it would kill traffic, if they hold it in Pudong area (which in all honesty is the only place where they have wide enough roads for cars to drive around fast it will be held among a bunch of high rise apartment blocks.

As for Di Resta's comments, I think it's a strong sign of either the driver line up at FI being finalised or the Hulk's second season might be in good hands.

Since single seater drivers generally struggle in tin tops, why would tin top success equal open wheel success. Actually the link to me is pretty strange.

Di Resta (and many other DTM drivers) used to race open wheel cars. Di Resta was F3 Euroseries champion in front of that Vettel guy, as well as Buemi, Grosjean, Kobayashi and a few others who got a chance in F1.

In fact, if you look at the current DTM field:
1. Di Resta, F3 Euroseries champion
2. Gary Paffett, German F3 champion
3. Bruno Spengler (beat Kubica in their first year of F3 Euro)
4. Timo Scheider (vice-champion in German F3, behind Nick Heidfeld)
5. Mattias Ekström (no open wheel, but double winner of Race of Champions)
6. Jamie Green, F3 Euro champion (leaving Lewis, Rosberg and Kubica behind him)
7. Mike Rockenfeller (no open wheel)
8. Martin Tomczyk (took part in German F3 and Formula BMW)
9. Oliver Jarvis (vice Champion in British F3, plus some Japanese F3, A1 GP)
10. Miguel Molina (raced in Formula Renault 3.5 and other open wheel series)

Add to that a few former F1 drivers (Winkelhock, Half S., DC), you'll see it's a tin top series with a lot of open wheel experience. And of course Di Resta has shown as a FI test driver that he has the skills. Not sure he has the money, though.

It's in Pudong. I know that place it's close to the visa office. I miss Shanghai Sad
