gr in San Jose 23-27 August
So, I'll definitely be in San Jose for work next week, then either in SF or LA the week after, which makes it pretty silly to fly back to the east coast for 12 hours in between.

Anyone (ahem, Clark, Steve, Nasir) interested in getting together during the week? Who's watching the race where? (I mean, I'm finally catching the BBC coverage from a hotel room, but...)

I haven't actually booked the airfare yet, but I'll get in Sunday evening and actually be in Alviso for the full work week (working with a DVR company you may have heard of). Looks like I'll be in SF for the following week; unclear when I'll switch from an Alviso/SJC hotel to an SF one, but ideally not "during the race".

I'll shoot you more detailed contact info and itinerary via email.

This must be secret US code - DLC company, (no idea) Alvsio, SJC (regions/cities)?

I have done some research. The firm gr is visiting is TiVo.

This place does seem rather odd.

The demographics section may hold clues to the hosts exclamation.

Sounds like a "great" place not much industry, no mail delivery service and the town is below sea level on marsh land and is slowly sinking into it.

Hey, I'm just making their computers work mo' better. I didn't pick the location.

And, I expect, Clark may mean something slightly more. We shall see.
Oh, PS: I'm here. Moving to SFO Saturday, but I'll be in LAS Sunday night->Monday morning. (A friend's competing in a cocktail competition there.)

Wikipedia Wrote:The racial makeup of the CDP was 40.8% White, 0.6% African American, 1.1% Native American, 2.7% Asian, 50.5% from other races, and 4.3% from two or more races.
Can someone explain what the 50.5% other races could be? They're not white, not african american, not native or asian and not of mixed descent. What's left, aborigenes and maori?

Usually, "prefer not to say".

In this case, "spirit".

That would be Hispanic - under the wire

Illegal immigrants don't generally respond to census inquiries.

You are all neglecting the ghost town sinking into the Bay, never mind the Winchester Mansion.

gabriel,

how about an interview with you???? hope you are not mike-shy!
thanks

I'm dubious: I'm hardly a rising motorsports star, and the more famous people I can introduce you to are generally dot-com-era millionaires (who now own nightclubs in SF or work on "internal projects" at Google) or globe-trotting bartenders, but hey, whatever works!

I definitely want to know about internal projects at Google. I need to know when the Google alternative to Facebook will get there.

"Internal Projects" is what Google employees tell their friends they're working on when they can't talk about what they're working on. (But, um, the answer to that particular question isn't a secret: orkut.)

Or, actually, the Google Voice thing that was being announced later in the day the day I was there (and the staff were snapping up all the vulgar 7 digit transliterations), but that's more along the lines of "getting people to spend more time in gmail, less time in Facebook" than a real response.
