RE: World Cup 2010
All is thankfully quiet on the subject here, last nights news had a long piece about the Stanley Cup winners and a quick mention that the World Cup starts soon.

I'm trying to figure out how to stream it at work, but our network seems to be doing a fair share of blocking.

RE: World Cup 2010
Fortunately it all happens at about 4am here so we are spared it during the day/evening here - personally I have little interest in it - I think it is on our foreign language TV station SBS.

If by some bizarre stroke of fate the Socceroos (the name of out team) make it through the first section I might take a bit of interest

I did get an sms from my mobile phone company that I could get free streaming to my phone - it does strike as unlikely many people will be staring at their phone screens at 4am watching a soccer match when presumably they would be at home and could watch it on TV

SBS no doubt got them here as none of the other free to air stations wanted the rights - soccer doesn't get any play on major stations (SBS is niche - mostly foreign language) - they could not have paid much as they get little funding

I believe it's so that every game is live on Terestrial TV, it comes from before the Red button. I assume ITV only have games when BBC are also showing one. If not then I have no idea.

RE: World Cup 2010
i've never seen so many people spend so much time and energy to bitch about the fact that some people like other things. maybe i need to head over to the biker section and get obnoxious.

RE: World Cup 2010
I thought there was plenty of time spent bitching about how people like other things in the bike section, besides, isn't that all part of the fun of it. You can't expect everyone to be pleased about Football discussion on an F1 forum, just as I wouldn't expect everyone to enjoy the bikes.

It's all in good spirit, lighten up.

You are welcome to come and be obnoxious in the bike section if you want though. Smile

RE: World Cup 2010
as long as the bikes are quarantined, i take a live and let live approach.

one thing that i will say negative about the world cup is those blasted horns that make the stadium sound like a wasp's nest. what happened to singing songs? the constant singing is one of my favorite parts of soccer fandom.

They also cover premier league and euro cup soccer for the whole year

That sentence made me laugh more than that whole movie did.

USA was fortunate to get the draw. England was the better team today.

You need to relax a little more.

So the USA drew with England. Really, I don't know why we bother to pretend we have a good team, because we obviously don't. No offence to America, but it's hardly in your top ten sports where as it is supposed to be what we are good at.

I really do not understand why we do not have a UK/GB team. I am ashamed.
