Forum Update Rota
Yaaay has power to veto this topic

In recent weeks I have noticed certain forum members not doing the deed and managing to send a forum update on time.

Yaaay is usually in charge of these segments, and never lets us down.

However I am concerned that only a few members seem willing to do these forum updates. Well done miguel, I have not forgot about your regular contirubtions. Koala - I am concerned about your understanding of time.

It's time we got a list of people together who are willing to do the forum update. Feel free to add your own slant on it. There is a 100% Guarantee that Steve will not read the update before the show, so feel free to write what you want.

Tuesday 13th April: Miguel
Tuesday: 20th April : Trickydicky
Tuesday: 27th April
Tuesday: 4th May
Tuesday 11th May

Now, its time you stood up for what is right in this world. I would like 3 other dedicated forum members who are willing to do one of these dates. I will do the 20th.

Dear Forum Members

Frank is yet again bypassing responsibility and instead participating in cheap political point scoring. I’m sure the community as a whole would be interested to see Frank produce a forum update.

Deadlines aren't my strong point, and work is a little too busy at the moment to commit to it, but I'll see how it goes in the summer, I might be able to do some then. (How's that for a non-commital answer?!)

RE: Forum Update Rota
I see another prominent forum member is passing the buck of responsibility. This is deeply unfortunate and I have account connections that could ban you.

Not passing the buck, just saying not just now. We don't all have idle Government jobs that allow us loads of free time to do the updates.

RE: Forum Update Rota
It takes literally 8 minutes to do a forum update. 7 if it's a good one.

I think it were high time a Canadian (resident) and a New Yorkian did at least one.

For like a year?!?!

It's a few lines about what is happening here and Steve usually reads it out during the wrap up. The idea being to give some shout outs to forum members remind those who haven't been here for a while what fun they are missing and hopefully attract new ones.

It's also fun putting in words and foreign names that Steve has trouble with, especially without any capitalisation.

You are down for April 27th.

Tuesday 13th April: Miguel
Tuesday: 20th April : Trickydicky
Tuesday: 27th April : frankdouglason
Tuesday: 4th May
Tuesday 11th May : Chemics

I tendo to take longer - 15 to 20 minutes, but I'm a bit obsessive and a foreigner. My goal is to make Steve loose it and burst out laughing,
My updates range around 200-250 words. Here's an example, from Feb 24:

The start of the season is two weeks away; forum members are dusting off their keyboards and head sets, getting ready for text and voice chat during the races.

The forum has been attentively following the tale of two teams - USF1, who seems dead and deader, and Campos, who may yet be alive at the start-line in Bahrein.

Last sunday we celebrated Yaay 12,000th post - an astonishing number that begs the question of the state of his job, his marriage and his overall mental sanity... his loss, our gain - congratulations Yaaay.

(dear hosts, we need some higher ranks than team principal - perhaphs a Max at 10,000 and a Bernie at 20,000???)

On Tuesday Tsarcasm showed his true colors and allegiance by purchasing a Super-Aguri Tshirt and Cap.

Tricky pick up the challenge of beating the record for most users online at the same time. The planning is to log into the site before the race start in Bahrein and opening a page on viewing who's on line. Since it auto-refreshes everybody will stay logged on. Some concerns have been expressed about the stability of the server, but our ever vigilante Administrator seems confident it will hold.

Other discussion topics during the past week were:
- Toyota troubles - is the media being fair to the world's largest carmaker?
- Has Sauber been dropped from the entries list?
- James Key from Force India to Sauber
- Raikkonen will return when Webber quits
- Rally America, anyone going? Xorpheus is, so fellow listeners who are going, please stop by the forum and post.

um... probably closer to three or four years. i just don't have that kind of time anymore. i do my message boarding during class (shh! don't tell!) and in the library, so podcasts don't really work the same way.

RE: Forum Update Rota
I sent mine to Clark.

Sometimes I spice things up a bit.

For example I did a forum update that mentioned you (Frank) had brought a manual peugeot 407 and that Dr Mark had got himself a Ford Mondeo.

A key feature of the segment should include spelling mistakes, and no commas.

RE: Forum Update Rota
I can do 18th May.

That's just before I head off for 10 days hard graft in Southern California and gives plenty of time to come up with some really nasty things to say about Yaaay and TD so I can get my 'Public Service Tax-funded Holiday' retaliation in first.

Cool

Regards,
Mark

RE: Forum Update Rota
You need to send them by Wednesday midday US Pacific time to Clark by PM and /or e-mail.

Steve generally reads them out without reading them first so you can have some fun with awkward words.
