ign article on f1 2010
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/107/1078150p1.html

looks very promising. they're right in saying that most f1 games are mediocre. i love that they're working on all those little details.

in other codemasters news, i read today that dirt 3 is in development, and will be predominantly british rather than the american tilt seen in dirt 2. i hope dirt 3 gets the changing weather and road conditions mentioned in that f1 2010 article.

Because I am too lazy to read the article, when is the game out and should I buy it? I am a very casual gamer.

european release date is penciled in at september 25, but there's plenty of time between now and then for delays.

they talk about how the game is definitely a sim, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's hard, so i would say you're good to buy it (assuming you have an xbox360 or ps3).

Sounds good. Maybe not for the casual gamer though. It's a lot of involvement if there are features where you have to deal with the press.

that feature might only be in career mode, with a quick race mode that casual gamers can use. but i'm just speculating.

Is there a mode where you have to be accused of breaking up with your girlfriend, then deny it and then actually break up, and then get back together again?

You also have to have your dad as you manager and secretly cry at night wishing he would be a father and not a business partner. Eventually you need to kick him out and look longingly at your teammates father-son relationship.

WOW what a sucky game. What happened to the part about banging hot chicks???

RE: ign article on f1 2010
I'm buying a PS3 and THIS game!! It looks like it has the heads from both the best F1 games from the 90's (why don't people acknoledge F1 '95 for PS1 as a classic, for it's time for a fan it was amazing!) and the graphics look outstanding.

I just hope there's a robust arcade mode. I don't know about you guys, but I have no Idea how it feels to drive an F1 car I can just imagine from watching TV. So since I'll be playing this with a control pad realism isn't my main thing, just fun. Ripping through the field in my HTR. Woooo!

The game is looking good so far!

Love it that Ant Davidson is the "F1 Test Driver & Advisor" of the game. Smile The cockpit view looks excellent, I hope they take some of the cockpit movements from NFS:Shift.

Anyone here on Xbox Live? If so, we should get some racing in together when this game comes out.

You don't need to buy a PS3, if your intention is to use it only for this game. Unlike the F1 2009 game, F1 2010 will also run on PCs

RE: ign article on f1 2010
The game looks good and i'm sure it will be great fun to play if dirt and grid are anything to go by,

one feature i'd like to see are some classic tracks like in F1 97 the TI Circuit Aida that held the pacific gp and the Adelaide street track were bonus tracks in the game (along with one fictional track and a black and white version of Silverstone in a 50's/60's car).

on the new game it would be nice to have something like that along with some classic cars like in 06
The changing weather and tear wear sound awesome... I can't wait to play it

You can find many classics tracks and F1 simulations for the 70's and 80's with rFactor.
The quality is not as good as F1 2010, but it does the job.
This one below, for example, is F1 1979:

not only would that mean playing on a small screen with a poor controller, it would require owning a copy of windows. *shudder*

i have a computer hooked up to my tv. it's one of those situations where it's apparent that it's a bodge job. it's not at all the same as a gaming system.

i also have a wheel that i almost never use because logitech still hasn't figured out how to make a wheel not feel numb. a ps3 (or xbox) controller is much more responsive.

touche on the mac port. i didn't know that existed. though this software seems a bit sketchy, and a beta port of it doesn't make it look better.

an independent game for pc just doesn't compare with an official game made by the best racing game developer in the business made for proper gaming consoles. it's like the difference between watching the race on hdtv and listening to an internet radio broadcast of it.

I'm a mac user. and I doubt my XP based netbook will run it to the specs I want it.

I would get an xbox 360, but most places here only sell it with mod chips which xbox live detects and causes a heap of trouble. The PS3 hasn't been cracked yet, so it's my best bet to get a gaming console that hasn't been hampered with. Anyway the impression I get is that the XBOX 360 is pretty fragile without the chinese microsoft genius tinkering with it.
