WRC Mexico
Looks like a bad start for Loeb, the times are just coming through for SS@ and he has dropped nearly 3 minutes to Hirvonen.

SS1 went to Petter Solberg by a healthy margin

1.11 P. SOLBERG 14:05.4 0.0 0.0
2.7 S. OGIER 14:15.2 +9.8 +9.8
3. 2 D. SORDO 14:16.2 +1.0 +10.8
4. 1 S. LOEB 14:19.4 +3.2 +14.0
5. 4 J. LATVALA 14:27.2 +7.8 +21.8
6. 3 M. HIRVONEN 14:27.4 +0.2 +22.0
7. 6 H. SOLBERG 14:31.8 +4.4 +26.4
8. 5 M. WILSON 14:34.7 +2.9 +29.3
9. 55 K. BLOCK 14:43.0 +8.3 +37.6
10. 8 K. RÄIKKÖNEN 14:44.5 +1.5 +39.1

Ignore the comment about Loeb, the WRC site must have had a glitch or taken Hirvonens split time before he finished the stage. Loeb is second fastest after 6 cars through SS2 and 12s in front of Hirvonen.

Was just going to comment about that. Smile

The 3.2 (seconds) next to Loeb's name is only the difference to the driver just in front of him. After the first stage he was 14 seconds behind Hirvonen.

RE: WRC Mexico
Looks like Solberg took another 10s out of Loeb again in SS2. If memory serves this will be a rally where running first on the road is a disadvantage as you are clearing the top layer of dust and gravel for the following cars. I think Petter is running well down after a bad rally in Sweden, so he will have good road position to try and take advantage of today.

The UK's great hope, Matthew Wilson also has a similar good road position, but as ever is miles off the pace dropping 30s a stage. His original 5 year plan would have had him fighting for wins at this stage of his career...that worked out well then. Thankfully for him his Dad runs M-Sport that prep the cars and run the team, so he hasn't been sacked like any other driver would have been.

Quote: From wrc.com

After hitting a rock on the previous stage, Citroen Junior Team driver Kimi Raikkonen had a more serious problem on SS2 which brought his C4 WRC to a halt four kilometres from the start line.
Raikkonen stopped after two large jumps, but the Citroen team said early indications were that a mechanical problem was to blame.
Raikkon and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom are working on the car and more information is expected soon.

RE: WRC Mexico
No surprise that Kimi is out. I figured that he'd hit a rock. There was some speculation amongst some friends of mine whether Block would out perform Kimi. We all agreed that the smart money would be on Block, and we weren't wrong it seems.

RE: WRC Mexico
loeb is fine. he always takes it easy on day 1 in mexico. he'll storm back tomorrow. petter's going to have his hands full.

i'm really impressed with ken. sure, he has a bit more rally experience (a lot more recently), than kimi, but this is only his second time sitting in that car, and the first time racing it. not to mention he's known for off-road capers.

RE: WRC Mexico
Kimi has hugged a tree, crashed into a snow bank and now decided to try a roll over. Perhaps he should give up rallying and try stunts!

And Armindo Araujo is on the lead!!!

THIS is the story of the Mexico rally IMO.

LOL. That's unreal. They should have made a documentary of that epic!
