RE: 2010 teams and drivers
Franz Tost confirmed he'll keep the STR driver line up for next year I think in Japan Wink

I think uncomfirmed, but expected moves.

Toyota; Kobayashu

renault; glock

Lotus; Trulli, and that Malaysian guy whatever his name is

My bet is for Heidfeld to go to McLaren, and Raikonnen to go Rally Smile

RE: 2010 teams and drivers
The driver who's name apparently shall not be mentioned on this forums is repeatedly being connected to the second Campos seat.
I wonder what his manager can do for him. Or his dad. Both businessmen I wouldn't want to be negotiating with...

I like good looking cars, too.

RE: 2010 teams and drivers
I think Glock is as good as confirmed for Renault alongside Kubica.

And the same for Rosberg at BrawnGP.

why would toyota develop a great infrastructure, last through some of the most expensive years in f1 ever, and sign the new concorde agreement that outlines cost cutting measures, only to withdraw? that makes no sense.

Why would Honda throw Ross Brawn and mega money at their 2009 car and then withdraw? The decisions of company boards make no sense sometimes, but I wouldn't be surprised either way.

RE: 2010 teams and drivers
honda pulled out before the new concorde and before cost-saving plans became apparent. it still looked like a black hole of spending when honda left, and it made sense to get out before having to commit to a concorde.

You are trying to inject rational thinking and logic where it has no place.
A few updates based on some more rumors.

Team: Driver Name, Driver Name
Brawn GP Formula One Team: Jensen Button, Nico Rosburg
Campos Meta Team: Bruno Senna, Pedro de la Rosa
Scuderia Ferrari: Felipe Massa, Fernando Alonso
Force India F1 Team: Adrian Sutil, Vittantoio Liuzzi
Lotus F1 Team: Fairuz Fauzy, Jarno Trulli
Manor Grand Prix: Heikki Kovalanien, Adam Carroll
Vodafone McLaren Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen
Red Bull Racing: Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel
Renault F1 Team: Robert Kubica, Timo Glock
Scuderia Toro Rosso: Sebastien Buemi, Jaime Algeusari
Panasonic Toyota Racing: Kamui Kobayashi, TBA
Team US F1: TBA, TBA
AT&T Williams: Rubens Barrichello, Nicolas Hülkenberg
Sauber Qadbak Ferrari: Nick Heidfeld, TBA

Should we add additional (ie 3rd and 4th) red names to each team as the rumor mill continues?

you're right, i am trying to inject rational thinking.

since the f1 media will keep talking about toyota bailing until they do, i'm going to keep talking about f1 teams behaving rationally until they do.

Yes, add Takuma to each team that doesn't have two blues.

I don't think we will have 14 teams with Williams blocking it, and I think the others were only in favour to save BMW/Sauber, not for any additional teams.

RE: 2010 teams and drivers
It is more like this.

McLaren-Mercedes
Ferrari
Brawn-Mercedes
Renault (hopefully)
RBR-Renault
STR-Ferrari
Williams-Cosworth
ForceIndia-Mercedes
Sauber-Ferrari (another return to tradition that was already announced)
Lotus-Cosworth
USF1-Cosworth
Manor-Cosworth
CamposMeta-Cosworth

You have to expect Quick Nick is in the lead for the first seat at Sauber unless he's already signed somewhere else.
Is Christian Klien going to be their #2?
Or will Peter Sauber go back to his history of picking top-flight F1 rookies (Frentzen, Massa, and Raikonnen all got their starts there).

Maybe the mysterious Qadbak has an opinion about drivers?

The "Petronas" engines were rebatched Ferrari engines payed by malaysian oil company Petronas. I think in 2005 it was even the current engine and the years before, a year old engines. This goes way back, I can only remember Sauber-Mercedes, Sauber-Ford (never Cosworth, if I'm not mistaken. I mean the brand, not the engine manufacturer) and Sauber-Petronas. BMW never was their engine supplier, they acquired the team.

Yes, thats true about Petronas. But my point was that Sauber and Mercedes were synonymous, you didn´t have one without the other.

RE: 2010 teams and drivers
Yes, Sauber and Mercedes had a relationship dating back to the mid-1980s in sportscars. However, it was finished by 1995.

Mercedes bankrolled Sauber's entry into F1 in 1993. The first year, they ran as Sauber-Ilmor. Mercedes officially arrived in F1 as an engine supplier just in time for the tumultuous 1994 season.

Disappointed with Sauber's lack of progress up the grid, Mercedes then jumped in bed with McLaren, who were suffering with the execrable Peugeot unit (just ask Martin Brundle). Similarly, Flavio was eager to dump the Ford factory deal to get Benetton the same Renault engines that Williams had. This meant that Sauber was able to pick up the factory Ford engine deal. Sponsors Petronas and Red Bull also arrived at Sauber at this moment.

For 1997, the Ford deal was set to move to the new Stewart team. This meant that Sauber again had to find new engines, settling for Ferrari motors rebadged as Petronas V10s. The little Swiss team continued to use the rebadged Ferrari motors until the end of 2005, sometimes being accused of siding with Ferrari on political matters.

In late September 2009, the renewal of the traditional Sauber-Ferrari partnership was announced:
"BMW Sauber team principal has confirmed that the team will run with a Ferrari powertrain in 2010, following the takeover of the Swiss-based team by the Qadbak investment group last week. With BMW no longer set to supply F1 engines or gearboxes next year following their announced withdrawal at the end of the current season, the team was forced to seek an alternative supply."

I doubt it because its in Germany.

I think that Toyota signed the Concorde agreement, but never had any intention of selling the team. Whoops! It probably expects Cologne to revert to TTE anyway and focus on rallying or Le Mans again.

Ironically, BMW who didn't sign the agreement, did need to sell their team... leaving it on the outside looking in until Toyota bailed out too.
