RE: ITV online Feeds
All three "slight delay" ITV relays in Koala's last post above are loading and showing the expected "next live action on this site will be ... Friday 5th September, 9am" notice, so they should all still work this weekend (justin.tv makes it impossible to tell until airtime), but we'll know for sure in about 8 hours.

http://bilmosk.org/simulcastPlayer.swf appears to be gone (it's a 404 error, about an hour after FP1 ended) but
http://pic.mellbimbo.hu/files/simulcastPlayer.swf looks like a viable replacement.

Thanks! (I've been a listener to the podcast for a bit--I guess just this season--before I had cause to create an account here.)

I'm in Philadelphia.

RE: ITV online Feeds
The feeds can be a little variable - if you come onto the F1weeeklySkype chat then and don't have a live TV feed it i usually best to use "justin" as that is a feed of the ITV TV coverage and so is not delayed as much as the SWF feeds.

Good find on the new link GR - it is always handy to pick up one ones as the old ones do disappear from time to time. Usually Saturday prior to Quali is not broadcast via  the internet.

Hopefully catch a few of you for Quali on Skype ( f1weeky.racetextchat) later on we usually start around when the coverage comes up

I've never found anything that broadcasts Saturday morning practice, unless someone else knows better?

I don't want to take too much credit: that's the only hit for "simulcastPlayer.swf" on the first five pages of Google that is neither billmosk.org nor the originating file at ITV (or their edge routing service).

Well in that case perhaps I won't get up at 05:00 EDT!

http://www.justin.tv/live24_xtra is live during qualies, http://www.justin.tv/bluesking40 does not seem to be. http://bilmosk.org/simulcastPlayer.swf is now extorting for advertising clicks, which is "cute".

Wow, and either ZA authorities or Bernie got to http://www.justin.tv/live24_xtra:

http://www.soccer-live.pl/ITVF1/f1player.php was also functional this morning.

http://www.f1stream.co.nr/ appears dead, but I think it's because they broke the MIME types on their webserver, not because it's actually broken. That page's frames actually embed http://f1stream.googlepages.com/f1itv.html for the video, which has an embed tag for http://f1stream.googlepages.com/simulcastPlayer_02.swf ... but if I try to connect to that directly, I (in Firefox, on a Mac) am offered the opportunity to download it. (Maybe that works in IE or even just under Windows?) In any case, while playing around to find this, I exceeded their bandwidth limit, so I wouldn't hold my breath for the race.

On justin.tv, http://www.justin.tv/live24_xtra is back from having had its content removed, and showing a rugby game with South African commentary at the moment, but some lingering chat after I loaded the page included "see you guys tomorrow! Go MASSA and VETTEL!", so I think it's a good bet for tomorrow.

Yaaay, yeah, but don't tell anybody that! They keep getting knock off the wire! (It's only "air" if you're using a satellite internet connection.)

We are going to have to appoint GR the F1weekly official video link consultant - I have never even head of a MIME.

I have tried to get to the direct ITV feed by using proxy servers etc myself but have never managed to connect even though I thought I followed the instructions I had googled - fortunately for the moment our telecaster is showing F1 live on their HD channel so I am far less reliant on the internet stream for the race - now just Quali and the Pre Race.

RE: ITV online Feeds
I may touch on the proxy point at some point. It "should work", provided the proxy is set up right. And yes, I am looking at VPS ("virtual private server") providers in .uk.

MIME types contain metadata about files served on web pages (and several other server types) and attached to emails asserting what sort of data is included, which indicates to the client how it should be rendered. A bad analogy is the configuration in Windows for how to handle a given file extension. (That's a bad example because MIME type configuration matters both on the server and the client side.) When you get a pop-up asking you what external application you want to hand off, for example, a PDF to (assuming you don't have, for example, the Acrobat plugin in your web browser), it means your browser doesn't have a definition for the MIME type presented by the server.

All of these video applications (not just that we're using to watch F1, but likewise with youtube, justin.tv, hulu.com, and so on) are written in Flash, which requires the Flash plugin in your browser. Thing is, I've got that plugin, but I didn't get a MIME type that triggered it, which means that something on their side is broken. And you can't just feed the data the server's sending to the plugin because it won't be formatted correctly (primarily because anything that looks like a carriage return or a line feed will be inappropriate converted; you don't really want the details).

All functional with pre-race chatter:

ITV:
http://pic.mellbimbo.hu/files/simulcastPlayer.swf
http://www.soccer-live.pl/ITVF1/f1player.php

Some South African station rebroadcasting ITV's race content (but their own commentary around it):

RE: ITV online Feeds
Showing FP1 (remember the changed schedule):

http://pic.mellbimbo.hu/files/simulcastPlayer.swf
http://www.soccer-live.pl/ITVF1/f1player.php

Nice view backwards down the front straight from turn 1 at the moment.

All 5 (that I know of) live24 channels on justin.tv have had their "content removed by the copyright holder", so that may take some digging during qualies.
