Prediction Competition 2008
I ran this at work for a few years and it was fun.

You predict the 8 points finishers in order. You then get their points if they finish top 8, however if you get their position correct you score double points. You can make gains this way by being accurate with the middle of the table, those regulars who come in 4th, 5th or 6th each time and those guys who always creep into the 7th and 8th spot.

I had three of us play last year and I tracked it on a spreadsheet.

This was the result of Brazil, I lost.

Would any of you like to have a go? I'm happy to keep the scoring going and publish the results.

The rules are simple, let me have your choice before Friday practice by PM. I will then post them sometime before the race and the result with a league table afterwards. No prizes, just plenty of kudos to the smartest predictors!!

RE: Prediction Competition 2008
Is there any limit to how many times you can pick a driver. This kinda sounds like the fantasy F1 thing I got in with another member from this forum. It however only let you pick a single driver 4 times so you had to be cunning and pick the right races.

http://uk.f1.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1

If anyone wants to do the fantasy thing let me know, we could probably start our own F1weekly group.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread here TD but ....

RE: Prediction Competition 2008
I play something similar with a few F1 enthusiasts (11) here in Puerto Rico. We have to guess all 22 driver positions before each race and then we get points accordingly. The persons/team with the most matches wins the race and gets the F1 Championship points (10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1,0) awarded. Before each race I send an Excel file by email for the race selection. I'm working on getting all this into a website (private not to infringe in F1 rights.....).
I tried attaching a demo but the file is too big. So here are a few images of the 2007 Championship Results, this years Australia Player Grid sheet file and Australia Race were results are tabulated.

Anyone interested in playing send me an email. (Warning you need excel)

Anyhow, I’m willing to try Yaaay’s system,  so count me in.

Obviously you have to have 8 different drives in the top 8! You make your pick before each race.

Saw the comments about the other F1 games out there and there are many. I made this one up as it is simple and quick.

I'm all for simple and quick.
How soon can we start picking for the 1st race?

RE: Prediction Competition 2008
When ever you like, send me a PM before the start of Friday practice. I won't publish the entries until after that deadline to prevent "tactical" choosing.

Yaaay is becoming quite the social secretary of the forum - Race chat organiser, tipping competition manager, culinary expert (albeit somewhat limited in his tastes, main "punching bag" for Tricky ---- next thing you know he will be shoving Hbright aside and advising Jackson on the management of his love life Cool
