RE: Baked Beans United
That's almost indescribable. The coiled thing reminds me of something and not in a good way.

What's the light brown item in about the four o'clock position?

RE: Baked Beans United
It's a traditional Cumberland sausage, although I am sure in that part of the world it is a traditional "insert your local area here" sausage.

The beans, while not British style, are probably some delicious Croatian recipe and the brown stuff is, I am going to guess, mustard and or mayonnaise.

You really should get out more.

RE: Baked Beans United
the sausage was pretty good and I shall not be dragged into the what-came-first-Cumberland-or-Croatia-sausage debateTongue
I felt thebaked beans were pretty nondescript, but then again nothing can beat a portuguese feijoada.
The brown stuff (which looks yellow to me) is Dijon mustard (yes, Peter, I agree but they had no Colman's).

RE: Baked Beans United
I am ignorant to this. Is this a breakfast with coffee and a mimosa thing, or a dinner with beer thing?

Lunch with beer thing

(I don't know why the picture is sideways, when the original is correct... it's an 8º alcohol beer, but still...)

RE: Baked Beans United
i find the whole plate terrifying, especially that oily discharge draining out of the sausage spiral. and with that spray of parsley around the perimeter, it makes me wonder if it was originally prepared in 1978 and discarded, only to not biodegrade at all over the ensuing decades.

Big GrinBig Grin ROFL
It did seem that someone had snuffed some parsley and then sneezed it around the plate.
Other than that, it was a very acceptable and tasty dish. it was not an outstanding sausage but it did hit a spot.

Mrs Dr is off out with one of her mates, so I'm just about to concoct something similar.

Accompanied by a rather nice Tuscan merlot (yes, there really is such a thing).

Regards,
Mark

You should probably call a doctor about that.

indeed, and nobody should be putting it in their mouth until that issue has been properly addressed.

RE: Baked Beans United
It's some juice off the sausage with some sausage fat in it. Coloured by what looks like paprika or something similar.

The French would call it a Jus.

and charge you an extra 20 euro for it.

RE: Baked Beans United
it is a perversion of the word "juice" to apply it to the greasy runoff of cooked meat. any fluid that cannot be held by the meat should not make it to the plate. that's what discarded aluminum cans are for.
