RE: Baked Beans United
The Baked Bean International trophy at Silverstone. Live coverage.

Lets go through the grid in order they qualified.

On Pole, Heinz - The market leader and best known brand.
Second, Branston, one of the UK favourite brands, but not well known for Beans.
HP another global brand, but only qualified third on the grid. Some say these beans are their favourite.
4th, Tesco. A mistake in Q2 put the nations biggest supermarket own brand on 4th.
Last on the grid again, Asda own brand beans.

Lets go to the start of the race, we see the tins all lined up ready - set - GO!

As they head into Copse they all line up - but HP are in trouble, a slow getaway has allowed Tesco to take a tighter line and push HP to the edge of the track, but will the advantage stay through Maggots. Asda had a fantastic start, they seem to have their lunch control working.

No change at the front, but the Tesco beans have held the advantage through Maggots and must be in a position to lead HP beans down hanger. Asda has it's ring pull putting pressure on both cans as they fight for position through Becketts.

Through Stowe and Heinz gets sideways, perhaps he slipped on some gravy left by the Chicken Hot Pot support race. Can Branston take advantage, Tesco has the clear position over HP and Asda is keeping in touch, fantastic!

Oh No! Tesco has over cooked themselves and run off at Vale, can they get back on the track, if they cut the corner too much the Stew-ards will put them in one, they could be on toast. Branston has taken the wide approach to try and jump Heinz on the run up to Abbey, lets hope they don't get in a pickle.

Through now to Bridge where Branston is using all their gas making powers to make a last minute charge on Heinz, HP is watching this and, yes, Tesco has made it back on track, just entering Bridge. Can Tesco catch up.

It's a disaster for Heinz and Branston! They have taken each other off at Brooklands, they are has-beans. HP is in a clear lead with Tesco now right on the bottom of Asda's can.

And at the Finish, it's HP and Tesco has managed to regain the place from Asda.

Join us next week for the Race of Champignons Soup.

No Champagne, because tins of beans can't get the corks out.

Of course, they wouldn't have taken the beans elsewhere for the ceremony.

The clue is in the word "Silverstone" on the back.

RE: Baked Beans United
News Flash.

Following a complaint from the Branston Team, the stew-ards of the race have issued the following statement.

Following an incident at Brooklands, where both the Branston and Heinz cans appeared to take each other out of the race, we have examined the tins in bean ferme and found that the Heinz team were running an illegal twin tin setup with incorrect levels of bean ballast.

Heinz Team Principle Bean Dennis was quoted as saying "I knew nothing about this, not even after knowing about it for 6 months. I am after all only a bean. I don't even know how many beans make five."

The Stew-ards report has bean forwarded to the BIA for consideration by the World Beans Sport Council.

Possible location 3: The Garage Pit

My garage has a underground section which stores a range of items, non significant. I removed the steps down many years ago to improve space, and use a ladder for entry/exit. This means that the wife never goes down there. The main drawback is that it’s hard to access to beans once they have been placed under.

I have one can left.

The quantity is irrelevant, I just want a location.

RE: Baked Beans United
Secure the beans to the underside of one of the service pit boards. Then, when you fancy a beany snack all you have to do is lift the board and a tin is ready at hand without the need to use dangerous ladders. If you have trouble remembering which board you have tied the tin to, mark the top with a secret code symbol like an X.

RE: Baked Beans United
Remember to put the board back over the pit with the beans on the underneath and the secret code on the top. If you do it the other way round the secret bean stash will be visible.

An easily available can holder, such as this
[Image: 6owsw1e.jpg]
could be screwed to the underside of the board.

Alternatively a novelty beer belt could easily be adapted to suit the task.

I suspect you already would own some of these.
