It was a bit of a silly thing to ask for, which does point to them having some issues. They must have known someone would say no, so why let it get into the public domain. Maybe they haven't got the Mastercard sponsorship after all.

If they really have big sponsorship coming soon and are owed a pile of TV money at the end of the year, they shouldn't have a problem getting an advance or a bridge loan from a bank or investor.

If Renault started producing more quality road cards we wouldnt have to put up with this nonsense

Given my understanding of the ongoing economic woes in Europe and the mess many of the banks are coming out of a loan against promised sponsorship (even if contracted) would probably be difficult to arrange - if anyone was to consider it you would think their parent / owner Renault would consider it.

I doubt it would make a difference, isn't their stake down to something like 15% now?
