UK forum members might be interested to see that Joe Saward has just announced another of his meet-the-fans events on the Friday of the British GP. It's 45 quid to include a meal, and is taking place at a hotel near Paulerspury, south-east of Towcester:

I'll be there.
Tempting.
I just attend the Canadian one and would recommend going to Silverstone. The food could have been better but hearing Joe was very interesting and I was pleasantly surprised how hard he worked NOT to shamelessly plug his publications and books. Bring some good questions!
This was fun last night. It helped a lot being held in a lovely old house on the A5 road a few miles south of Towcester (http://www.Plumpark.co.uk). It has a long history of accommodating senior members of British F1 teams during GPs at Silverstone. The weather was lovely. We were sitting out on the lawn having drinks and eats, and Joe's Q&A session was held in the conservatory on the back of the house.

I've posted a couple of the repeatable stories in other threads, and he gave good value (the event ran from 7-11pm and within that time he spoke for well over 2 hours).

Fortunately there was almost none of the complaining (about travel problems especially) that Yaaay and I find irritating in his Sidepodcast interviews.

BTW the Sidepodcast* crew were there, so this event might get released as audio. There most certainly would have to be some careful editing or he'd be done for slander. So, I'm now temporarily ahead of the game in hot gossip about: The Schumachers' Family Life; latest Ralf stories; Red Bullgate; Max; Bernie; Max & Bernie; Flavio; Ron & Max; Coughlan etc. etc.

Amazingly enough there were only about 25 attendees. I found this genuinely amazing, and would most certainly recommend people did go to any in the future. Apparently the Monaco event also wasn't well attended (it was expensive, but you did get several hours on a yacht, and Johnnie Herbert) but there were more at the others. He needs to market differently - they're probably too expensive for the camping hoards around the ciruit, but there are a lot of wealthier people staying in the nearby hotels.

[*I nearly took a photo of 'The High Priestess of F1' and 'Mr C', but felt it inappropriate bearing in mind the general demeanour of the event. I remember a famous thread a while ago where we waxed lyrical about what they probably looked like (and in which TD disgraced himself), so I'm prepared to provide further details only by PM or email. Suffice it to say here that you, ermmmmmm, "wouldn't". And Mr C's laugh is even more irritating in the flesh]
Was Mr. C still overly hairy?
Ah! I see that you've also had the pleasure.

Yes.

Have you seen his paramour?
I met and chatted to them at the Autosport show. I didn't have much time though as I was scurrying after Nasir.
OK. I suggest we discuss off line.

I'm doing deep research on a book about what you can tell about people from their forum posts and podcasts before you meet them.

I've got lots of material.
