This surprised me, I would have thought HRT or Virgin were last in the reliability stakes.

Fernando's engine failure in Malaysia
It's interesting that failing to make the grid doesn't count against a team, it's still a failure if you can't even start the car. Otherwise it's an interesting list when Ferrari have perceived reliability issues.
What about Jenson Button engine fire? Can we classify under Reliability or team stupidity?


I think this qualifes as stupidity cooling cover being left on his left-hand sidepod during the formation lap.
You'd hope someone was told "Ya fired!" after that.

It never ceases to amaze me the resources and technical know how that go into an F1 car/team, and something as simple as taking a cover off gets missed.

i think it's both. it was certainly stupid, but every mechanical failure is owing to a mistake by someone at some point.
