Funny how even first practice shows the forces in the teams. Nando in front of Felipe, Seb beating Mark, Bob waaaaay ahead of Vitaly, Hamilton and Button very close, Sutil giving Tonio driving lessons and so on all the way to the back with Glock a full second in front of Di Grassi.
Lets just hope this will carry on to Saturday, I'm sick of Red Bull getting the front row every race. I wonder if any the big names will get held up and not make it out of Q1.
I think the really big guys have enough difference to make it in any case. For the middle teams, it will be more of a lottery. The 6 new cars will be out in Q1, but it will be interesting to see who joins them. Could be any of the Williams, Toro Rosso, Sauber, plus Petrov and Liuzzi.

pff, not much gusto in saying who it won't be. tell us who it will be.
i've got my money on kobash.
Frank, I don't think we have properly addressed the rather large group of forum mmembers who insisted Jenson was not only an unworthy champion but these same people went on to decalre in no uncertain words that he would be crushed and destroyed by the Hamilton git.
It seems your unwillingness to take my fiver bet that you are one of them and therefore completely wrong.

if there's any dead horse we've beaten on this board, it's that one.

if i was willing to take your bet, i would be disagreeing with you. by saying that i think it will be kobash, i was impliedly saying that i agree it would not be jenson.
I think the horse is very much alive, but I thank you for your support. I can now regard you as a fellow Jenson supporter.
i will say that i was a bit surprised by jenson's performance this year. the excellent article on him and lewis in last week's autosport made his success after floundering so long at bar/honda more understandable.
though i still consider lewis to be notably (but not vastly) superior.
I'll predict Petrov as first crash, can we have bonus points in the predictions competition?

If it were Vettel takes out Hamilton and Alonso it would be all my dreams come true in one incident!

Its in place of where the Mercedes logo would be normally but still looks very simple and uncluttered compared to other teams.

My preference would be that Webber is not taken out - after all I am looking forward to the extra points in the tipping competition when he wins this weekend

Lets see - Massa to take out Hoonilton, Schumacher to take out Vettel (assuming Vettel doesn't break his car first)
F1 News Shorts: Monaco
The trial of Nigel Stepney started in Sassuolo, Italy this week. He is accused of trying to sabotage the Ferraris before the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix with white powder. Stepney’s lawyers have indicated that they wish to plea bargain, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Stepney himself will appear before the court on May 21.

F1 turns 60 Formula 1 as a sport celebrated its 60th birthday yesterday, the anniversary of the first ever F1 Grand Prix 13th May 1950 at Silverstone. The race was won by Nino Farina in an Alfa Romeo. Last night there was a celebration at the Hermitage hotel in Monaco.
Hill among the stewards 1996 world champion Damon Hill is the former driver representative on the FIA steward panel at Monaco this weekend. The initiative of having a former driver helping the three other stewards with decisions on penalties has proved a success, although it is noticeable that there has been some more leniency shown in key decisions than was evident in previous years. Monaco often turns up controversial incidents and with 24 cars in the field and a five to six second gap in qualifying between the fastest and slowest cars, there are likely to be some penalties handed out for blocking.
McLaren has made some major strides this season in its online activity with a new website, a prolific Twitter feed in the name of @thefifthdriver and a Facebook page, which today hit 100,000 followers.
McLaren has invested quite heavily in its online offerings and the website in particular has some unique content, such as the live telemetry updates.

Red Bull are also very active - a well laid out and informative website - active twitter at least from the team and Webber (I assume Vettel has one) and their E-magazine which is not a bad read - not sure about facebook but I would imagine they are up on it.
